Great for low light. Not for sky photography.
For low light photography requiring a wide angle lens, this is great. Canon lenses are solid. However, at the periphery, there is both geometric and chromatic aberration. For general purpose use, it is not noticeable, however, for night sky photographs, you readily see the distortion in the periphery.

My first true wide lens
Great in low light, surprisingly good price, sharp (especcially when stopped down), and a great focus ring. If you don't have a wide angle lens and looking to pick one up for a good price and large aperture, look no further.

Size and weight make this 70-300 a winner
Seems to work...minimal use so far..Size and weight should make it a must for travel. 300mm in a small package makes up for some of the shortcomings of the lens.
