Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Digital Cameras
Bought one of these about 8 months ago to go with my D3 & D3s. I have since sold my D3, not because it's rubbish, but because alongside the D3s and the D3X it's redundant. D3s for speed/high ISO and D3X for sheer quality. Used with fast primes the camera can surprise and is not just a studio/landscape beast, but can also be very adept at street or moving imagery. Not sports or wildlife, but cars, railways etc, where 5fps or less is fine. I also have a D4, and along with the 3s & 3x, those 3 imo are THEE best single digits, bar none. If you want image quality and value, 3X all the way!!

Great camera, but I am not a professional, so there will be a learning curve... I did take some shots at the beach this past weekend with a Tamron 70-300mm lense and there was a spot on most of the shots... Not sure if it is from image sensor or lens? I wish this model had an auto clean option for sensor? Able to edit it out with lightroom... Anyway, love the camera, might need a good sensor cleaning, and I need to learn more about settings, etc... See attached some JPEG shots taken with camera...

This is the camera that was designed to fill in the missing links in Nikons D3 armoury. Alongside it's stable mates the D3 and the D3s it completed the trinity of cameras! It is essentially a studio or landscape camera. The images are superb and lend well to large scale printing. It isn't for everyone though, Sports, Press, Events it's a nope. ISO performance is not all that outdoor at night. Shot a concert one night with one, thank heavens for Black and white converters and contrast ramping in Photoshop. But studio work which makes up 80% of my work it is still among the top performers. I do drag it along to weddings for the Bridal portraits, where it aquits itself well. The images do breathe well. Some of the newer cameras such as the D850 are great but do you really need 48 mega pixels? Great if you need to crop into an image, but for most using the D3X the subject will be front and centre. I have a D5 as well as the D3X, but apart from the D3X being slower, frankly the results are just as good. The other thing worth noting if you are thinking of picking one of these up, it's heavy, it was designed as a professional camera, which means it has a solid chassis, everything feels like it's made from rock. Switches and dials turn with a a satisfying weight, you know you are dealing with something that has been crafted properly for the job it's going to do, it's the same as hammering down an Autobahn at 120mph in a Mercedes, you wouldn't in a Punto! There are lots of great cameras out there....this is one of them Read full review

These are one of the best cameras on the second hand market - phenomenal value! Reasons - Good resolution ahead of most new consumer cameras and a good few new pro cameras Good low light - Yes there is better but you would have to spend a lot more Easy to use - Yes you can make it a quality point and press camera, but you can also go directly to just about any common custom setting with no fiddly menus to school through. Brilliant ergonomics - everything you need is under your finger tip They are built like a pocket battle ship, they are tough and shower proof they are built to be used a lot so just sit and keep working delivering perfect shot after perfect shot. The sensor is easy to clean. Buy one and enjoy!

We all don't do sports or press, most of us here are serious amateurs looking for what is excellent at a good price.I have owned this camera, and its excellent for what I bought it for, landscapes and indoor photography. The ISO range has never let me down,I used fixed primes and 2 zooms. Live view is excellent for excellent focusing, and colour rendition spot on in most situations, very little photoshop work needed, which pleases me no end.

This camera is built like a tank. Everything works smooth. Not so compact, but for me there is not an issue. Can use wide range both new and vintage Nikon lenses. So for me is Fantastic.
