I bought a new dslr camera. Looking for a storage card I saw mention of the eye-fi card. I decided to purchase the Eye-Fi 8gb Prox2 wireless card with geotag which will tag each photo using GPS. Purchase cost was $95 on eBay auction. It is easy to set up on my laptop and comes with software built into the card. Just plug in the card reader supplied and insert the x2 card, via USB. I chose option mobile to use my android mobile phone to receive my photos and videos. You can also download photos direct to your computer. Computer software includes Eye-Fi view where photos can be edited and stored. Online storage and social media sites can be set to receive your photos. Overall it is a good media manager with ease of use. I enjoy the convenience and foolproof method of transferring my photos. Remember you must have access to a wi fi service and a computer with wireless facility. Have fun and enjoy.Read full review
These SD cards are fantastic. My wife and I have recently started getting into photography again, and are challanging each other into finding the most amazing photos. Since we travel arround with out iPdas, and they are much easier to look at photos on, rather than the camera's small screen, we use the eye-fi card to upload the photos on the spot, so we can see, and maybe readjust our photos before we move along to the next location. We bought this because we wanted to be wire free to transfer the photos from the camera directly to the iPads. It is so simple to set up, My new Olympus camera has an eye-fi setting in the utilities menu, to turn the wireless on or off. My wife's Cannon d1000 needs to be in preview mode, to turn on the wifi. either way, we haven't noticed a big drain to the camera batteries. At some stage we want to try out the sync direct to facebook features too. that would be cool. I've been raving to people about these SD cards, and thik I've interested a few people in them. All in all, these cards are excelent, and I highly recomend them.Read full review
love it, talk about making it easier to transfer images and its perfect for the photo booth for our wedding. Have recommended to many already, many didnt know about it and how easy it was to use.
I love the Eye-fi card. I have now bought 2 of them - one for each camera and they are brilliant. Saves so much time and fiddling around by automatically uploading photos to my computer. All you have to do is turn the camera on. Every now and then it won't upload and I'm not really sure why but apart from that there are no problems.
God to transfer photos from SLR to iPhone. Easy way to do it. Better than use computer all time. you can instantly post photos taken with SLR camera on Instagram or Facebook.
I bought this product for my trip next year. Instead of downloading photos/videos with a USB cable and risk wearing out the ports (I'll be travelling for 3 months), this allows me to back up my photos to my laptop every day. Its 'endless memory' mode will also function as a backup. It will keep the photos on the card until it's nearly full. This way if I loose my laptop, the photos may still be on the card. Eye-Fi don't sell direct to the Australian market, but thanks to ebay, I managed to get one. I'll buy two more before my trip.
This device lets you wirelessly transmit from a camera to web photo services, a computer or an ipad. Quite a useful product, particularly useful in Direct mode where it will upload directly to an iPad. However it is a little fiddly to get working in part because of the way wireless networking works on an iPad. It's also not instant. And has bugged out completely at one point, I ended up having to pull the SD card to get the camera to even start up. I use it with a Nikon D7000 and have it write raws to slot 1 (a Normal SD Card) and jpgs to slot 2. It's great to have the near instant feedback for people with out the need to hand them my camera. It does slow down the camera, it does chew battery, it can bug out and you will need to eject and reinser the card, but over all great. To get the most out of it, it requires a $50 a year subscription to an eye fi premium service.Read full review
I bought this product to assist my wife get the pictures on her camera onto her PC without any intervention from myself. the card works well, however I found that the setting up instructions could be a bit more detailed and explicit, even though I have had reasonable computer experience. Also the instructions on the web site could also be a little more user friendly. There are also issues with the card freezing on occasions. The service from the supplier was prompt and cost effective.
Using with a Panasonic GH2 and ManBook. Transfer is sluggish and programming is buggy, worked best impairing direct to iPhoto with all options,i.e. online sharing turned off. Make sure you camera has any sleep modes deactivated. I like the idea but it has a way to go.
What a great little card. This thing can send your photos from your camera to your PC or iPhone or both and once transferred it can start to over-right the old files so you never run out of space. I have been using for a few weeks and love it, however this does not mean it does not have some problems. I am using this card in a Canon 60D, possibly these things are related purely to this camera. 1) Sometimes the photos do not start to transfer unless you remove the card and put it back in the camera 2) Setting up is easy, however you have to make all your changes with the card in your computer. This is not really a big issue, I just thought I would mention this as you are unable to add new WiFi networks on the go Overall I would highly recommend this card, I use it in a building with WiFi and all my images are already loaded into Lightroom for me when sit back down ready to go. I give this 4 out of 5 only due to the transfer issue outlined above, if this were not a persistent problem I would have given a 5!Read full review
