A chess book that actually explains why each move has been made. Shocking, eh? If other chess authors find out about this, he's going to be in big trouble! In addition to that he also spends most of the book talking about the middle game! If there is a chess author's union, I suspect he will be thrown out. Seriously though folks, this is one of those rare chess books worth buying. Yes, it still helps to have a chess set handy to play out the moves, but you can actually simply read about each theme as well and go back later to do the move by move over the board. Highly recommended.
Invaluable insight into top level Chess. Reasons for every move by Grandmaster John Nunn means you will understand some of it and not understand some other parts. Reread it again and again along with 'How to Reassess Your Chess' by International Master Jeremy Sillman, Add the two 'Chess Strategy' Books by Grandmaster John Watson, and rely always on 'Winning Chess" by Irving Chernev and Fred Reinfeld, 1948 in modern paperback.
