I was so thrilled to find a copy of this - in good condition - for a more than reasonable price. I was also lucky enough to get the songbook - a copy of the book with only the words. Both books were in TERRIFIC, almost pristine condition. The very best aspect of this songbook is the number and variety of songs in it. The songs from my childhood - I'm 40-ish - which you can't usually find. Really old traditional songs that my mom was reading and remembering - ones I don't remember, but she loves. The arrangements are simple enough to be played by an average piano player. There are also guitar chords - so the guitar can be added - or you can make up your own accompaniment using the guitar chords - which is what I usually do. The book is divided into sections - and at the beginning of each section is a summation of the song - what the history is of it. It's pretty neat to find out some of them. For instance, "Oh Tannenbaum" - or "O Christmas Tree" - has two origins. The first theory is, at the time of Christ's birth, all of the trees, all over the world, suddenly bloomed with delicious fruit. The other is that Martin Luther, while walking through the woods, looked around and thought of the Christmas story, and so took home some evergreen cuttings and decorated them with candles, etc., to remember the night and his thoughts. No matter which version you choose to believe, both are set in Germany - so there is no doubt as to the country of origin! :) Anyway - this book would make a tremendous addition for a music teacher, for choirs or classes, a book to enjoy at home, or a book to use at church. You'd be the hit of the party pulling out this book and starting up playing! Obviously I am extremely happy to have purchased this book. This Readers Digest songbook contains many of the best known and loved Christmas songs both sacred and secular. The piano accompaniments are intermediate level,not too difficult, but more musical than standard fare. The oversized pages make reading easy and the spiral binding allows pages to lie flat. The book is great for singalongs, church or family gatherings, and even solos. It was exactly as described in like new condition. I am very pleased with the product and the service.

Readers Digest Christmas songbook has great arrangements of most of the best Christmas songs. Can't find as good arrangements anywhere else. Too bad it's out of print. The newer version, while good, just doesn't have as good a selection of songs. This book was in excellent condition and at a great price.

I bought this song book many years ago but over the years it was lost. We used the original book every Christmas! So I was very happy to find it on Ebay! Now we can start that tradition up again! It has all the great Christmas songs from traditional to children's & religious! It also comes with a small words only book. Great for family gatherings & sing-alongs when an extra book is needed. I love Christmas music & this book fits that need perfectly!
