I was expecting more of the wholesome "Little House" type of story. But, this story is apparently pretty accurate since it definitely reflects a more modern view of life that Laura Ingalls had. The end of it leaves you looking for a sequel, though. Still, it is interesting.
Little house books teach values. This book was more about making choices, some of them poor choices and the consequences. I liked that it showed Rose having to work hard to achieve her goals and overcome her mistakes. Would like to know the outcome for Rose.
