Beginning in the year 1399, the plays deal with events affecting the monarchy during a period where the ruling orders of Richard II (Ben Whishaw), Henry IV (Jeremy Irons) and Richard III (Benedict Cumberbatch) find themselves beset by rebellion, greed and war.
The first episodes of Hollow Crown I watched on TV were not pleasing. So far I have only watched Henry V, the episode with the French battle and the new French Queen, excellent. Tom Hiddlestone was brilliant, the best performance of Shakespeare I have ever seen. He is a genious. The scene when he is coaxing the French Princess to marry him is unforgettably clever and endearing. I haven't yet viewed the remainder of the discs.
