About this product

Product Information

Frank Herbert's classic masterpiece--a triumph of the imagination and one of the bestselling science fiction novels of all time. SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, heir to a noble family tasked with ruling an inhospitable world where the only thing of value is the "spice" melange, a drug capable of extending life and enhancing consciousness. Coveted across the known universe, melange is a prize worth killing for.... When House Atreides is betrayed, the destruction of Paul's family will set the boy on a journey toward a destiny greater than he could ever have imagined. And as he evolves into the mysterious man known as Muad'Dib, he will bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream. A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction.

Engrossing page turner that turns into epics!

Classic deep Sci-fi story. Creates a large galaxy with plenty of content not only by the original author but also his son.

    Damaged book

The description said that the book was used but this book is used and damaged. Who knows if they shipped it this way or it happened in transit. If transit, they should have put it in a small box instead of putting a paper back in a poly bag.

  • Epic of epics

This is hands down my favorite story of all time and I read A LOT! I just gave it to my grandson who's also a huge reader. Exciting, thoughtful, great characters, it just has everything & is extremely well written. Herbert was born for this.

  • Dune, great sci-fi!

I bought this book for a Christmas gift for my friend's daughter who loves to read. This is my favorite book and it must be read before you die. It has everything in it that you would want out of a science fiction novel. From politics to religion, warfare to a Messiah, folding space and sandworms,it has it all. It is often compared to 'The Lord of The Rings', and rightly so it is a masterpiece of literature.

  • So good it makes other classics boring.

Essentially a redemption myth on another world, I know of no fiction or non-fiction that speaks to the term "human" more sincerely. I speculate both Melville and Dostoyevsky would have recommended it. It is honest pulp fun and a political science critique of the 20th century in the veneer of a sci-fantastic adventure.

  • Book came in good condition

Wish the picture had been updated to reflect that the book has a motion picture sticker printed on the cover. Was trying to find a copy that didn’t have that. Otherwise everything else is good.
