I bought this phone after doing a lot of research into budget android handsets. This seemed like a clear winner in terms of value for money, and having used Huawei phones in the past I felt reassured of its quality. I knew it wasn't going to blow my socks of in terms of speed or performance, but I have been very pleasantly surprised with how smoothly it operates. The Android OS is a dream for multitasking, and with only minimal re-skinning by Huawei, there's no bloat-ware as often comes with network-owned handsets like the Orange SanFrancisco. The capacitive screen is bright and responsive, games and videos look awesome, even though the resolution is considerably lower than on the high-end devices. The camera is nothing special, 3.2 mp no flash, but download a photo app (like Instagram) from Google Play and that will smooth out any dodgy images. The battery life has been fine... average for a smartphone, I charge it overnight. All in all, this phone won't tick the boxes for phone enthusiasts with £400 to spend on something faster and shinier, but if you're on a budget and after a nice little smartphone with all the functionality that the Android 2.3 OS has to offer, then this is well worth your investigation.Read full review
Let me first state that this review is based on my own personal experiences with the Blaze. When I ordered the Huawei Blaze U8510, it was because I wanted to see if I could get on with an Android phone, I have no previous experience with Android or touch phones as I have been a dedicated Blackberry user for the last few years, I found a new unlocked Blaze on Ebay for under £70 and took a chance. I was not disappointed it comes with: 3.2” bright clear screen, 600MHz CPU 256MB of RAM Android 2.3 (aka Gingerbread) I slid in my PAYG Vodafone sim-card and a 32gig Micro SD card and got playing with it. The first thing I did was turn off all the auto data updating /syncing (Push the middle button at the bottom of the screen, select the “Settings” pop up button, then select “Accounts & sync”, then make sure the “Background data” and “Auto-sync” options are un-ticked.) I did this as my PAYG Vodafone account has no data allowance, if you have a data allowance or want or need to update/sync apps wile away from a free wifi location then you wont have to bother. I then set up a wireless connection to my home hub and was able to surf the web, and download apps with ease, the only disappointing thing was that Android 2.3 (aka Gingerbread) is not flash compatible, but I did find a free application called “MoboPlayer” that sees to play not only flash videos but just about all the other video formats I tried to watch as well. I have had the phone for just over a month now and once I got used to its very sensitive touch screen, and fiddly on-screen keyboard (Thou I understand there are literally hundreds of alternative on-screen keyboard apps.) I can get 2 full days battery life with auto update/sync turned off. So in summary the Blaze my not be the fastest or most powerful Android phone out there, but for the money its a cracking little phone that probably wont let you down.Read full review
I bought this phone for my 10yr old daughter. And she loves it,easy to use,and loves the different coloured cover"s that came with it.Brilliant phone,Im glad I bought it.
Not impressed at all have sold it on after only a few weeks use. Very slow processor which was infuriating. Texting was an issue also. Would send but not receive all texts.
I was looking for a smartphone till my upgrade is due as my BlackBerry stopped working. Came across the Huawei Blaze U8510. Excellent phone for the price. Better than all phones in the same price range. Has Android 2.3.5 gingerbread on!!!
Great phone, excellent value. Really easy to use! Far better than I was expecting. Phone has a great value, in my eyes just as great as an expensive android phone. Highly reccomended. Only downside is that the headphones I received with the phone did not work.
over all not a bad little phone its got all the whistles and bells that do work but it does have two main faults the battery life isn't very good and the processor is very slow which i thing for a nice well featured phone is a big let down
This phone is super! Really responsive touch, sophisticated to look at and easy to use. Let's you do everything an HTC can do at a fraction of the price, really really pleased with it!
