After coming from a proper smart phone back to the N8 phone I was initially a little disappointed in the available features but after becoming more familiar with the phone I find it even better than the smart phone now. I came back to this phone as the Samsung I had, while a good phone just didn't work well for what I needed to do with it and the battery life left a bit to be desired if used frequently. If you want a cool phone with loads of apps go get an iphone but if you want a really good phone I highly recommend this. One of my favorite features is the camera control switch. It has a regular push button the same as a conventional camera meaning that photo taking is a one handed action instead of using 2 hands when you have to push a "button" on the screen even though you can use it that way if you choose. The battery life is excellent even in heavy use situations, has not let me down yet. Another feature I personally must have on any phone is expandable memory, something which is disappearing from newer phones these days. Yes we should all back up our photos and so on regularly in case our phone is damaged or such but honestly how many of us do? With the removable sd card you can store all of your photos, music etc. there and if the worst happens then you remove the card and you still have everything even if your phone is dead. My only real concern if you could even call it that is the phone is sometimes (very rarely) a little slow when using multiple applications but being a slightly older phone now this is something that should be expected but it has never been a game breaker. The phone is very well made as all Nokias are in my experience and for what is in essence a "flashy" type of phone it handles a more rugged life with ease, in fact better than the Samsung I had previously. It is very intuitive to use but this may be due to being familiar with the Nokia brand but something that cannot be said for the replacement for this phone, the N9 which I found extremely difficult to access some basic actions on. All said the phone has been passed in features by newer phones out today but in my mind is still one of the best phones I have ever used.Read full review
This phone lasted 2 weeks before it started with the very common issue of constant rebooting and crashing while doing the most basic tasks. I had done everything reasonably expected of a consumer, i had updated the phone, factory reset & restored, at the end of the day i sent it back to the seller for a refund. While a beautiful phone in appearance and to use when it works, i will never buy another. Nokia has really lost the plot in manufacturing quality control and i feel deeply sadend because of this, im now forced to follow the other sheep and purchas an iDevice or android phone through no fault of my own. Nokia claims theres a problem with a small percentage of n8's i firmly beleive theres s problem with ALL n8's and it just a matter of time before they surface.
It's a nice phone. Really easy to use if you used to Nokia phones. Just the battery should keep longer. I need to recharge every day.
