I have owned two of the previous generation of Caddis Creek click and pawl reels. They are not bad. The're inexpensive. But the updated RIM CONTROL version of the Caddis Creek fly reel is a very nice improvement over the standard click and pawl drag system. If you hook a fish that's bigger than you expected with a click and pawl drag, just use your palm on the rim to slow down your running catch, or bring him to a screeching halt! Good value.

The reel does not have a drag control. You have to use your hand for drag control which I like. It is a simple reel. Loaded with some backing and six weight forward floating line, Im out pitching floating bugs to the bass and having a great time. Yep, awesome reel. I got started with a "Martin 63", years ago and still have that reel.

For a fly fisherman who goes out infrequently and uses light rods, all they need is something to hold their fly line. For under $20.00 total, this is it.
