The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800i is a pioneer specialized Android gaming smartphone and the first PlayStation Certified phone. It features a full slide-out game pad under its 4-inch screen. The SLCD panel has a resolution of 480x854 pixels, delivering bright and sharp visuals. The phone runs Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread out of the box and is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU backed by 512MB of RAM. The Xperia Play comes with 400 MB of onboard storage, which can be expanded via microSD. It packs a 5 MP rear camera that has both LED flash and autofocus, and can shoot HD video. The hardware and form factor are great! I really like the look and the foldout keypad/game controls. Getting phone service is an issue and I cannot update the Playstore because the Android version is now obsolete. Upgrading to Android 4.1 marshmellow causes other phone features to malfunction. The phone was not designed for this. The tech is old. However, I bought this for gaming and simply adding an SD card loaded with games makes it an awesome handheld gaming system. I Love it.
