I love these stories! There are a couple that I might not read to very young children, but as an adult interested in Irish history and folklore, I find all the stories delightful. I am particularly grateful for the pronunciation guide on the last page. Irish is a difficult language (as letters are the same as those used in English, but the sound of the letters or combinations of letters is completely different). So it's nice to know how to correctly pronounce the names of the people and places in the stories. I would suggest if you are not familiar with these tales from your youth and are planning to read them to a child, that you learn how to say the unfamiliar names first so that you will not have to interrupt your storytelling by going to the back of the book to see how to pronounce the names. It will make it much more enjoyable for you AND the child.Read full review
