I have used an HXv10 for years, and am always amazed at the quality of hte photos...and I was a professional travel photographer for 9 years. This of course is not quite the quality of a digital SLR, but it is consistently and significantly better than even my Panasonic TZ camera, which is saying a lot. The later models have more bells and whistles, but i do not use them. Overall, an excellent choice for the money.

Takes great pictures, light weight, easy to carry in pocket, has very good features but still can be used in point and shoot mode or in advanced mode. I have 2 of this model and I am very comfortable using this camera.

I gave this camera to my wife for Christmas and she loves it..It takes the best photos of any camera she has ever owned. She takes a lot of the family especially the grandkids and a lot of flower photos and this camera is great! Still haven't started using all of the options this camera has as yet, but I'm sure she will be an expert before too long.
I wanted a good point and shoot that had great zoom and decent quality. This camera exceeded my expectations. The 20x optical zoom is amazing, being able to read signs from 100+ yards away. It feels good in hand and the grip doesn't feel plasticky under the thumb. And the software features are great if you use them. iauto+ works rather well for every day sort of shots. And this thing takes great pictures at night. As far as cons go, it is a bit awkward where the flash pops up on the left side, and the software isn't as robust as it should be.
It does everything the Sony web site promises -- and does it smartly. Sometimes I find it automatically adjusting for faces or other image aspects that I wouldn't have considered. It also functions as a great camcorder (if you get the large-capacity memory card to accommodate the data). Had some problems getting the wifi connection to my Mac Powerbook to function at first, but Sony support was great and we finally got it working. The only complaint is one I've seen elsewhere. The pop-up flash on the upper left hand corner is in just the wrong place. The ergonomics of the camera just beg you to steady it with your fingers on the flash, hindering/preventing it coming up. But, I'm getting over it. Overall a great camera for the price I paid on ebay.
