Well, its just an 8 port gigabit Ethernet switch. Make sure you get at least a V2 product since these have QOS (quality of service) features. If you are very tight on budget, it should serve you well. A better option is to get a TL-SG108P (again V2 or higher). This will cost a little bit more, but provides a lot more features that may be of benefit now or into the future. Out of the box, the unit behaves like a TL-SG1008. eg: Web base management for configuration (V2 only), monitoring and testing. (Also a Windows based management tool). VLANs QOS Loop detection Cable testing Please check full specs of each product on the TP-Link website.

I just considered buying managed switch or non-managed switch for our home. Even though this is non-managed switch is working very well. This is seamless and there is no speed drops. Also metal product is solid rather than plastic product. Easy to use and no problem with connection with the expert! Perfectly suit for our home office.
