Product Information

Bring wireless internet connectivity to the home with the Netgear AC1750 Wireless AC Router (R6300). It is manufactured by Netgear, a respected provider of wireless routers and accessories. The R6300 router offers wide-ranging connectivity at fast rates for computers, televisions, and mobile devices. It is easy to install and features a user-friendly interface for quick setup and customization. Those looking to acquire a responsive wireless home network will be pleased by the performance of these routers. The Netgear AC1750 Gigabit Wireless AC Router (R6300) brings reliable and consistent Wi-Fi connectivity for seamless internet access. Adorned in black, the Netgear smart Wi-Fi router is designed to cover a wide range. With 128MB of flash memory and a powerful processor, it provides enough power to maintain signal strength in large homes. The router’s hardware and software is capable of handling more than 12 devices. It offers fast Gigabit Wi-Fi connectivity to the home for high-speed gaming and HD video. Speeds can reach up to 1750 Mbps for steady and rapid streaming. You can also directly wire electronics to the router for direct Ethernet connections. The device is equipped with four Gigabit Ethernet ports and two USB ports. The router features dual wireless bands that allow you to connect to two different frequency types through 802.11ac networking. This includes 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band channels that can be specifically tuned. By adjusting the frequency, you can reduce interference from neighboring electronics and get the most out of your wireless connections. With the high bandwidth provided, you can flawlessly stream high-resolution entertainment. Online gaming connectivity is rapid as well and can be improved even further with the Quality of Service (QoS) feature. Through this service, you can prioritize the operations of a computer or console on the system by allocating more bandwidth. Furthermore, settings can be easily accessed through the graphical user interface (GUI) provided by Netgear. Called Genie, the GUI acts as a control panel for the router. It also provides a table of contents that can conveniently provide answers to the questions you have. Performance-enhancing technologies can also be switched on for specific needs. Beamforming+ can be used to focus Wi-Fi communications on a specific area, increasing signal strength through localization of transmissions. In addition, with ReadySHARE, you can connect a printer and wirelessly share its functions with multiple computers. The Netgear service also enables automatic backups of any file through a USB-connected hard drive. With the aim of keeping computers secure from malicious software, the smart Netgear R6300 wireless router regularly checks for firmware updates. It will consistently upgrade its firmware to a more current version as it becomes available. This operation helps to make sure that the firewall’s firmware remains optimized for defending Local Area Network (LAN) systems. This firewall is customizable between Network Address Translation (NAT) and Stateful Packet Inspections (SPI). The NAT protocol can prevent home computers from being directly accessed by hackers through a Wide Area Network (WAN). The SPI protocol monitors incoming data and guards against specific attacks like Denial of Service (DoS). Security is further enhanced by encryption technology, like WPA and WPA2-PSK protocols. By utilizing such encryption in tandem with setting a strong password, unauthorized access of data can be prevented. As the unit offers VPN capabilities, your privacy can be protected as well through anonymous web browsing. Parental controls are also available with the Netgear AC1750 wireless router. Adults can prevent their children from accessing inappropriate material through easily customizable filters.

    Review of Netgear R6300v2

In my opinion, this is an amazing router for the money. It has AC wireless up to 1750 Mbps, 4 gigabit Ethernet ports, 1 USB 3.0 port on the back and 1 USB 2.0 port on the side for network storage and printers, and, finally in physical features, the ability to turn off the router's wireless radio without accessing the software on a computer. Inside of Netgear's genie utility, it has plenty of features for the average and technical user, including QOS, UPNP (That allows multiple game consoles to have an open NAT at the same time), and custom DNS servers. Also, some basic wireless settings can be changed through the Netgear Genie app on mobile phones as well. Finally, the downsides. This router does not have external antennas, which limit wireless performance a little bit, and doesn't allow you to get more powerful antennas. Second, the router was a pain to get an internet connection on a bridged Comcast gateway, and required an hour or two of troubleshooting to solve the problem. Finally, the model is very thin, so it can be bumped into and knocked over easily if no Ethernet cables are plugged into the back of the unit. Despite the downsides, the router is very good for people who want a reliable internet connection for the money and don't want to fork out over $150 for the Netgear Nighthawk router, which is only giving users a little more bandwidth, but does not matter for most people. Unless I was a router enthusiast, I would go with this router.

    It''s Okay

It’s okay. Does what it should and does good handling over 100mb internet speeds like it should. Reading stories about Netgear, seems like a large number of their routers come off the assembly line with poor solder joints and other bugs. This unit is no different. The lights flicker on and off all the time. Otherwise, it works. On the negative side, the 2.4G Wi-Fi broadcasts a little further than the 5G. My devices want to auto lock on the 5G signal and when I go outdoors the signal is dropped. So, I turned the 5G off on the router. Problem is, the maximum 2.4G Wi-Fi speed doesn’t go over 50mb and if I could use the 5G, it was equal to the modem output speeds (135mb).

  • The purpose of buying this router is that it gives you multiple options of services

NETGEAR Service is shit though so you better know what you want to do when you get this type of router because it is as simple as Plug And Play BUT you dont spend the money for that here. This router giver you more access more control and more importantly it gives you a nice GUI to use ONline or as an App. As a parent I want to control my sons time online because sometimes he will go off an watch youtube for hours without realizing its 3 in the morning! So this router allows for you to give him Guest access and then shut it off when you want without effecting your connection. I also wanted to use the DNS option BUT that was not so easy and decided to go with the CISCO free family DNS to control the sites ALL of us can and cannot go too. RAnge is great and the router does what all routers do if not be better to handle all the devices on connected house we have!

  • Good Router at a great price but! Not that easy to set up and get going.

A setup CD would have helped a lot but with my son's help we got it working and on the 5gh band downloads are almost twice as fast as our old N300 router. On the 5gh band only a & n protocols show up not g & b but that's not a big deal. All necessary docs can be downloaded and printed from Netgear.

  • Fast wired speed - all you should need!

I needed fast throughput, and the reviews said this was one of the fastest (wired0. Price is good because it had been available a while, and easy to find/bid on ebay. The wifi is also as fast as I need, but was not a real concern. Netgear has an easy setup - if done using the directions, it's easy. Buying used is not a problem with me, and I don't need the fancier/newer and more expensive units. This does what I need. It also has a nice feature in operating as a wireless bridge between two areas of my home where it would be hard to install wire (CAT6, etc), and I need athe wired connection. But for a bridge, you need a normal router , and one tha can be configureed as a bridge. I have bid/won on 3 of these, and am happy owning all 3 of them.

  • No Firmware updates available

This router is basically an old Charter wireless router that has been sort of updated if it has the blue band around the bottom. You cannot update the firmware from Netgear's website as it will show that the most recent current firmware is wrong. This seems to have some impact on the 5G WiFir capability of the router. That being said, it works okay on the 2G and the wired portion works well. I wish I had known this prior to my purchase or I wouldn't have bought it as I wanted the 5G capability.

  • DD-WRT

I installed specific .bin for this Charter model r6300v2, boosted the signal and has ipv6 enabled. I even boosted my transmission power up to 95mw and now my whole house ( 3000sf) has a great signal now and I don't even need to use my extender on far side to run my ip cameras. Overall, great router with good option set thanks to DD-WRT!

  • GOOD VALUE FORTHE MONEY

The router has performed exceptionally well since installing. No issues with connections and able to utilize the full bandwidth of 60 mb download speed of charter spectrum internet using multiple devices in the home. Able to watch Sling tv , netflix without any buffering. The complain i have is that the router was not reset to factory default before shipping, its easy to reset just press the reset button on the back of the router, its small red depresed button. Just use the sharp point of a pen and hold for 5 seconds when the router is powered on.

  • Great router with great features. Port translation with hairpinning, can't get much better.

I bought this hoping it would support Loop-back NAT (also called hair-pinning) and it does great, whether you're using port forwarding or DMZ. Another great feature is that port forwarding translation is also flawless as well. I have three local servers and am able to redirect non-standard TCP and UDP ports to the standard ones on the inside without having to change the setups on the server. Also the throughput on this unit is great.

  • Good value for the $$$

Good hardware & Firmware 800 Mhz dual core ARM CPU 256 MB Ram / 128 MB Flash Decent WIFI range & performance Very Good Firmware & control options Easily handles NAT of 4 simultaneous connections. Works well as VPN router with DD-WRT or Tomato. I have two of these purchased used ($27 & $33). Great router for the money. I also have a Linksys WRT 1200AC (1300 MHZ dual core) which performs slightly better with VPN @ $70 refurbished. ***IMPORTANT ... Different firmware*** Blue stripe at front bottom means Charter Comm. ISP firmware Gold stripe at front bottom means Netgear firmware Some Comcast / Charter routers have USB ports disabled in firmware. I am not sure if this is the case with the R6300
