About this product

Product Information

For banging beats or smooth jams, the Panasonic RP-HT21 headphones are a versatile and reliable option. These comfortable Panasonic headphones are lightweight and portable without sacrificing sound quality. A manufacturer known for producing electronics solutions has once again delivered a high-end technology that delivers on every front. These headphones provide a high-quality listening experience thanks to an XBS port that pumps up the bass to add depth to your dance music. This XBS (Extra Bass System) technology delivers that powerful increased bass response by magnifying lower frequency audio. That means that the latest action movie on DVD will never sound the same again, and your favorite dance tracks will come to life like never before. Your treble sounds are well represented too, though, as this headphone also brings out the mid and high frequencies in a way that sounds clear and natural. At just 1.2 ounces, the open-air, on-ear type headphones are lightweight, allowing for maximum movement whether you're sitting at your desk or taking your morning jog. This open-air design also prevents the kind of friction that can sometimes hinder your comfort, and it leaves you feeling as though your headphones are lighter than air. You might even forget that you're wearing them. The Panasonic RP-HT21 headphone features a headband with an ergonomic design for an improved fit. Attached are comfortable foam-cushioned type earpad earphones. The large-diameter headband and on-ear earpad earphones combine to provide extra comfort for extended use. The flexible mounting of these earpieces further adds to this headphone's comfort factor. These features all combine to help the phones to stay in place. The unique design also has some noise cancelling capabilities, which is great when you're on the bus, meditating, mixing music, or just trying to tune out the world. It's an ideal choice for runners, hikers, bicyclists, and for people who are generally working out. Further specifications for this model of Panasonic brand headphone further prove why Panasonic is an industry leader. The Panasonic RP-HT21 headphones feature large 1.18-inch (30mm) diameter driver units. They also include neodymium rear earth magnets and a wide frequency response of 16 Hz - 22 kHz. The frequency response refers to the full range of frequencies that can be reproduced by the device, and a wide frequency response is essential for ensuring realistic and accurate sounds that come to life. When the impressive frequency response of the RP-HT21 is combined with the large diameter driver units and other innovative features, you're left with a clear, natural sound just like the artist intended for you to hear. Included is a 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) stereo mini plug that you can connect to your chosen audio device's headphone jack. These headphones also have an extra-long cable that measures 4.5 feet (1.5 m). It provides plenty of length for both portable and stationary listening. It can be threaded easily through bags and comfortably through clothes when you're listening to a portable music device. It's also long enough to reach across the desk between you and your computer.

One of the BEST cheap headphones

I NEVER use earbuds. I've been through so many lightweight headphones because I use them on the bike a lot, as well, and they take a bit of abuse, These Panasonics actually sound great. They're full and responsive. I listen to everything with these from baroque & lute music to rock and metal. I would prefer if the headband was a little bit tighter, but they still feel comfortable when wearing them for hours. My fav's were the RadioShack model that's been discontinued so I went back to these. I like the RadioShack version because the cable is on one side, but noone is manufacturing a quality sounding lightweight headphone with a single cable anymore it seems. The foam pads are decent, but it's a good idea to have replacement foams if you're going to be putting these through a lot of use. That's a good sign I guess, If the headphones outlast the foam padding. I had a pair of these that lasted long enough for the printing and logo on the side to wear off and they were still working great.

    Newer is not better

I have purchased the lightweight Panasonic headphones for years - probably six or more sets over the years. The recently purchased version is not the exact same as in the previous years. The new set is not comfortable for me. Sound quality is fine, but the new headphones are too "tight". I realize this might vary from person to person, bu for me it is a regression, and I won't be buying this new model again.

  • Great buy

I love panasonic. I've used their headphones for years, though the earphones are harder to find lately. I bought these to use with my phone when I'm in bed and they are great! Sound quality is excellent, better than the Onn brand I recently tried (they were like $5 though, so there).

  • Amazing sound from small lightweight headphone.

These are the first headphones I've found of this type (small - lightweight - on-ear) that deliver such a wide spectrum of sound. I've owned several different brands of comparable type headphones which I've used for years (Sony, Koss, JVC, etc.) and most do not deliver much bass at all, and some practically none. These, however, produce an amazing amount of bass, comparable to many larger, heavier over-the ear headphones. Yes, the higher and mid-tones are there as you'd expect, like in other headphones of this size but with much better bass, you have a much more realistic listening experience. I was happily surprised when I first used these. As you would expect from these or any small on-ear headphones, they won't block out a lot of background noise and it seems that the much better bass response may use a bit more power - my ipod runs down the battery a little quicker than it did with other small headphones. But, those characteristics aside, I'm very satisfied with my purchase of these. The price of these (usually less expensive than other brands I've seen) also make these a worthwhile purchase.

  • Excellent Value

I am a career musician and audio engineer... degree, awards etc etc. Found the Panasonic cans some years ago and keep a couple pairs around. They are not for critical or professional listening. That disclosed. They are comfortable to wear and provide acceptable sound quality. On stage, I've given up wearing a set of in-ear pro level monitors and use the Panasonics.

  • Good value; minor complaints.

The phones fit comfortably on your head, and don't press too hard on your ears. Sound quality is good, but could be better. I hear a small amount of distortion. A minor complaint with the right-angle plug. It does not fit well in my smart phone when the smart phone is in its protective case.

  • Good for the price

I wanted something affordable so I can watch my shows while my kids are asleep. These will definitely do. It's lightweight, comfortable, and quality is great. I would buy more if my kids break these.

  • Very good sound!

These sound great! No doubt! But they are not as comfortable as I expected. Even though they are very lightweight, you begin to feel the pressure after 5 minutes or so. If panasonic would have added better cushion or a thicker ear foam, I’m pretty sure these would have been the best headphones under $20-30 dollars.

  • Lightweight with good sound

I'm happy with these headphones. I still use my Walkman and they no longer have the headphones that you can use with them. I'm glad I found them and they work just as well. I had a little trouble initially with the sound being very faint on the right side, but that seems to be better now. The only downside is that they are pretty tight on the ears, but not so uncomfortable that I won't use them. And my old ones would fall off if I bent over, so I know that won't happen with these : )

  • Comfortable and inexpensive

I need headphones to listen to my iPod while walking around. I can't handle stuff stuck in my ears, so these lightweight, comfortable, and inexpensive headphones are the next best thing. I've used them for years (this is my second round of purchases) and have been very happy.
