I just plugged in my own fiber optic cable and not the one that comes with it. It is not long enough. I hooked the cable to my blu-ray player fiber optic out to the Sony transmitter fiber optic in. I then inserted a 7.1 sound track movie. The effects were as if was I listening to the movie without headphones as it should be. I live in a triplex, so these are great if you don't want to disturb your neighbors.

The product was in excellent appearance when received. When hooked up however an echo was perceived that made the words spoken difficult to understand. I tried hooking up with RCA plugs also but no change. I went to the menu of the TV (Samsung Smart ) and changes the time delays to see if it improved. Results were a fail. It was not possible to clearly hear the spoken word.

I've been researching wireless headphones for several years now, and these Sonys kept coming up as a great pair that would work with my older stereo equipment. (Red & White plug type). I bought them factory refurbished and they arrived looking perfect in a factory box, and with all cords. The only thing it was missing was the instructions, but that's no problem, they're on line. It had been more than a decade since I'd had closed back cans, so it took me about 2 hours of futzing with my equalizer to get the perfect sound levels I want. (It had been at least a decade since I'd adjusted my equalizer too! 😜) The earpieces fit perfectly around my ears and the top band tightens nicely across my head. Super comfortable for multiple hours of wear. My last set of Sony headphones, MDR-CD780's were so big they were always slipping off my head, so this was a wonderful change. The sound is completely contained in the cans, so you can rock out at whatever volume you want without disturbing anyone nearby. Nice bass, not earth shattering but plenty for heavy metal/hard rock. Getting the mid ranges and treble adjusted was a bit tricky, and I wonder what they'd sound like without a 20 band equalizer. I am able to walk all through my house with them on and have no interference until I get outside. Since people don't own many 2.4 GHZ phones anymore, there's less risk of them interfering in your headphones' transmissions either. That was a very real problem 20 years ago! There are several settings on the charging base that you'll want to check out to find your best sound based on the media you're using with the headphones. There's settings for movies, spoken word, compressed sound, etc. The charging stand looks great and gives me a perfect place for my headphones to live when not in use. It is recommended you let the batteries run down to almost zero before recharging, so they are like the ones in older cell phones. That's kind of a bummer, but gotta remember, these headphones are not the newest model by several years.... Still, they are exactly what I was wanting and I am super happy with them.Read full review

For some reason Sony has discontinued this headphone model. Very long range listening potential, with great '3D' sound. Lets you use digital source, or older stereo receiver with analogue sources. Gigaherz signal in radio frequency doesn't interfere with other devices like the old 900MHz units did... Not sure why Sony discontinued the unit, as reliability or shoddy workmanship was never an issue in this Japan made high end model. Sound separation and placement across rt. and left sides and everywhere in between makes listening to movies a real pleasure. Typical price on ebay is a good buy. I recommend these to all audiophiles.....

I am a person who has a hearing problem so in order to watch TV I turn the sound up to a point that my Wife complains about the noise, so I use ear phones and this makes for a more harmonious house hold. I've tried several different brands and they did the job but each one had it's draw backs. Well to make a long story shorter I hit on the Sony 3D Headphones and I'm sold as to the fantastic quality of sound that I get from them.I can get lost in a Movie and I hear every sound clear and crisp. The Headphones are light enough and the padding is very comfortable so I can keep them on as long as I want without any problems. So hears to you Sony thanks for Mfg. a great product.

Comfortable to wear. Easy to charge and held its charge fine for wireless. Good volume range and had true surround quality without any muddiness in tone. Good deal. Worth it. Understood speech easily throughout the movie no matter what was going on. I especially liked that feature.

The good: Works perfectly with Blu-ray player, HD DVD player, HTPC, CD player etc. Decodes Dolby Digital and DTS with no issues at all. Sound quality is very good and the soundstage is expansive and open. Charging base makes sure headphones stay charged. Base turns on automatically when you remove headphones. They are not particularly lightweight but you do get used to them. No problem to wear them for a couple of hours. The bad: My receiver does not allow use of HDMI and optical digital input for a single component. So needed to buy a separate optical digital switching box for the headphones. If you will only be using them with a single component then this is not required. Just plug them directly into that component. Range is not as good as my Sennheiser wireless phones but is more than adequate for home theater use.Read full review

I bought these for my wife who has severe hearing loss from the radiation she had after cancer surgery. When she watches TV with only her premium hearing aids, she has trouble understanding dialog. She removes her hearing aids and with these headphones, she says it is great. We tried all the selectable settings on the base unit to find the best for her.

I had one of these since they first came out for over 5 years before the plastic side support finally broke due to fatigue. I fixed it and it still worked but I just wanted another new one. Mine is hooked up with the optical I/P from my home theatre which is a hard to find feature. I'm hard of hearing and these work perfectly with the adjustable volume control..
