Best tasting pot of coffee!
In the past I had always used a big BUNN coffee maker; the type that holds 2 pots worth of water hot all the time. It began seriously leaking, so on a whim I bought this Melitta Pour Over. I could not believe how GOOD the coffee tasted from not having the water standing hot indefinitely as it did in the other. Also, no lime scale build up from our hard water here. Just a swish with a little vinegar every so often and it's perfectly clean. MUCH easier than the electric one was. It only takes a few more minutes to brew it this way, but the excellent coffee taste makes it so worth it. I only wish I'd have gotten it sooner!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Right pour over at the right price
I was looking for a good pour over coffee maker and this is exactly what I was looking for. I got it for less than 6$ shipped and at that price is unbeatable. You can spend more on some more ascetically pleasing pour overs. This does not have the designer look of some others. It is just a glass coffee pot with a big plastic top for filter. Its very basic looking. But as far as coffee. This thing makes a great cup of coffee and has no differences with other more expensive coffee makers. I wanted a coffee maker that didn't force me to make large quantities or small quantities. I enjoy a large cup of coffee like the equivalent of 2-3 Keurig cups and I hated waiting for 2 or 3 brew cycles to finish to fill my 32oz coffee thermos. This allows me to make the exact amount and the strength I want. The finer the coffee the stronger and larger the weaker. I also use box Folgers or generic coffee on the weekend when my roommates all want coffee too and are less picky/appreciate better coffee and works great for all. If you are looking for a piece of art or a fancy/showy, look at my coffee maker guys type of pour over then buy something else. This is a no frills GREAT working our over. Like all glass wear DO NOT rinse after u use it. I rinse it about once a week in the morning BEFORE I make a cup of coffee. All glass breaks when turned hot to cold! Get a reusable filter. I buy unbleached organic cotton baby towels and cut them in filter shapes and make about 5-10 filters so I don't have to wash them every time. No More Broken Coffeemakers
When our Melitta auto coffeemaker died after two years, I'd had it with one coffeemaker after another dying, no matter how often I ran vinegar through them to keep them alive. I thought, for the price, what have I got to lose, so got this and gave it a try. The instructions that came with it are NOT the way to use this pour over properly. We have found that boiling water in a tea kettle until it whistles provides the right temperature for coffee. Freshly ground beans in a large measuring cup (minimum 1 quart), then pour the water over the grounds, cover with a plate for 6 minutes, then slowly pour the brew into the filtered cone, even the grounds at the bottom of the measuring cup, cover with the plate again until all the coffee has dripped into the decanter, duplicates what the auto coffeemaker produced during its short life. Easy to clean - MUCH easier than the auto. Never going back to electric coffeemakers!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
