This is a very solid hitch, I'm very impressed and won't have a worry in towing anything. I did the install myself and wasn't too bad. I had a few problems however, installing on my 2008 Toyota 4Runner sr5. I used 2 jack stands to set the hitch on to get it close for mounting. I didn't remove the rear bumper facia or drop the muffler mount. dropping the muffler mount would have made it easier. I had to grind down one of the blocks for the nuts that you have to fish into the slots on the impact bumper. one went in fine the other not. Both blocks exactly the same, so maybe just my vehicle slots weren't perfect. You have to bend the rod just right to be able to get the nut in position for the bolts, so a bit of a pain but got it done. Got all the bolts in place except for the smaller bolt on the driver side. The hitch was off about a 1/4". I was able to get a 4" c-clamp on the hitch and frame and bend the hitch enough to get the bolt in. Torqued everything in, and it aint going anywhere. The hitch wasn't a perfect fit, but very damn close. Happy with it, and buying on eBay saved me $10.Read full review

Putting a hitch on a twelve year old car requires just a little more prep time. Allow yourself thirty to forty five extra mins to wire brush off any rust around the area the hitch will be. A drill with a wire brush and some rust oleum spray paint will have that area looking new again and keep your hitch looking good much longer. Rust and dirt will be in the factory mounting holes and can cause you to strip the mounting bolts if you do not clean them out. Use a tool called a threader and clean the mounting hole threads out and that will insure a properly mounted hitch. The drawt tite hitch I chose fit like it was made at the factory for my car. You can do this, good luck.

Didn’t need a jack, just dropped the spare tire and laid on my back with socket wrenches and a torque wrench.
