I purchased this Samsung washing machine replacement part ONLY because the original was designed to be to be of poor quality, destined for a short life. Checking the internet and youtube proved to me that many many others have seen the same failure (breakage of the structure connecting the machine drum to its shaft, after about 5 years use.). It's called "planned obsolescence" and ensures a good flow of future product sales, because this part of the washing machine takes a lot of work to replace, and so the labour cost (plus parts costs) will often make the repair uneconomical, and the machine - only a few years old - will often be scrapped. So it gives me no pleasure to purchase a part as poorly made as the original. With a background in Mechanical Engineering I can tell you that this part was not designed, or intended to last for a good long working lifeRead full review

It's not a good design but you have to use it if the original failed. I actually can't say it's not good quality as this is the only part will fit. I was told by the supplier the Bosch spider is at least three times stronger than the Samsung. I don't know how scientific is the claim but that at least shows you how common is the premature failure of the part. The problem is the shape of the part and the material used in this part is prone to trapping the washing powder and causing corrosion. The solution is using less washing powder per load and cleaning the washing machine regularly with washing machine cleaning agent (it's a kind of acid and it can dissolve the washing powder residue trapped in the spider if they are not too thick. The other issues arisen from the repair is the stainless screws mounting this spider onto the drum are most likely seized so you need to order the replacement. The seized screws are extremely hard to be removed without damaging them. I had to use a angle grinder to get rid of them. The thread on the spider shaft may also be different from the original one. Fortunately a suitable high tension bolt can be found in the hardware or automotive shops.Read full review
