'None More Brave' tells the life story of how a tough young 'Brummie' Walter Handley emerged from the back streets of Birmingham to become one of the all time greats of motor cycle road racing history. It was thought that the story of Wal Handley could never be told because -one knew eugh about this extraordinary man's life to tell the tale, but w Walter's nephew, John Handley has written this 'long overdue book' says Classic MotorCycle. He was the rider who thrilled the crowds that gathered to see the most exciting and gruelling road race in the world, the Isle of Man TT. He became the only rider to win all four pre-war classes of the Isle of Man TT races, Handley broke nine lap records in just twelve meteoric years of TT racing from 1922 to 1934. He even had a part of the famous TT course named after him, Handley's Corner where he had the misfortune to suffer a high speed crash. He also won Grand Prix races in Europe and became the holder of World Records. He had success with; OK; Rex Acme; AJS; Motosacoche; FN; Rudge; Norton; Guzzi; Velocette and he won the Gold Star for BSA at Brooklands. His versatility demonstrated his quality, being equally outstanding as an airman and racing driver. With the advent of war he volunteered to use his experience as an airman and it was in the service of his country that he lost his life. The book's title refers to the wording on his Memorial Seat on the Isle of Man Mountain Course that bears the inscription 'None Ever Passed This Way More Bravely'. This book has over 90 illustrations; many of the images are published for the first time. The writer has indexed the book, studied the background, the correspondence, contemporary race records and interviewed many of the people who knew Walter Handley. It is a book that is t solely about motor sport, it is a very human story containing many anecdotes. The foreword by Murray Walker sets out the background.
