Hornby's R2494 Guillemot is an excellent example of more-recent, higher detailed Hornby locomotives.
For anybody interested, I would definitely recommend it.
Being in excellent used condition, but several years old, a good oil and grease was required, then gentle, then harder running - now it's a fantastically quiet and smooth runner, with it's 5-pole 'skew wound' motor.
Is it worth five stars? Well, in fact - it isn´t - but it is always exciting to grab a bargain, which it is when you can buy a model of an A4 Pacific for less than £90. It is still made in China and NOT of very good quality.
But it works, and after putting a TTS sound decoder into it, it also sounds like the real thing.
So it makes me happy!
Described faultt was not easily fixed but locomotive does operate normally .after some slight attention. Fault is hardly noticeable in operation. No spares available from Hornby.
