This movie i felt was very engaging at release. It was very innovative in the way it dealt with the subject matter. But it was not widely appreciated if i remember correctly. The themes are deathly serious and almost always emotional. It deals strongly with death and the contrast between death and death at one's own hand. SPOILER ALERT!!! Robin Williams dies trying to help someone and the movie is his journey through the afterlife as he realises his own heaven. To watch this 10 years ago was sad. To watch it now without Mr Williams seems like a documentary rather than a fantasy film. While navigating the afterlife, he has to face the other extreme to see a person whose life was lost by their own hand. There is a dark contrast and one should keep in mind that attitudes towards self-death have changed, ironically after Mr William's own passing. But i warn you that documentary becomes extremely sad when one sees Mr Williams im this part of the movie, and its painful. This movie is not a movie anymore. Its a way to see mr Williams in the afterlife. We never get that chance. To that end, emotions aside, this movie is a must for any fan of Robin Williams. Its a way to still feel that we can see him, because unlike other movies there is an obvious divorce of movie world and real world. In this movie we feel as if there is no tv and we're watching him as if we were watching him on the street. How the perspective of this film has changed since its release and it all changed on one fateful dayRead full review
