The channel scan on the Midland LXT118 two-way device is designed to automatically check the channels for any activity. GMRS on a budget.
These are great little radios. I've used them on several gigs with no problem. They have a very cheap plasticy build, but that hasn't been a problem. They get the job done. TIP! too short battery life
Longer lasting batteries. I am going to try to buy rechargables I need to have it on all night long so I can be able to answer when my apartment friend who is 92 needs to reach me in an emergency without having to dial my phone number. We had hoped we could just use the 2-way radios to do that. But the first night we used it batteries went low and started making noise and that upset her. The overall small size is excellent!
The range isn't the best, but the size of the unit according to how they're being used is wonderful. I didn't need a huge ugly cheap unit with a large antenna. I needed one that was durable, lightweight and as portable as possible. The sound is good, the signal is OK for what it is, backlit display is very nice in the dark of course.
