I have an older Kogan DC fan which is almost identical to the Kambrook. Having such great experience with the Kogan, I wondered how much better the more costly Kambrook can be. Well, it's much better designed. What I liked over the Kogan clone: 1. Kambrook fan remembers the last used settings. Clone defaults to speed 10, normal without oscillation each time it is turned on. 2. An actual silent mode that is gentler than speed 1. Surprising useful for generating a slight air movement without noise or drying out my nose while I sleep 3. A sleep mode that starts at higher speed to generate white noise, and gradually slows to the above silent mode. I don't know how long it took as I was in lalaland long before that and just wakes up to it on silent mode 4. An actual mode button on the fan. The clone uses the speed wheel to change mode by cycling past the min or max speed. Both model's remotes have dedicated mode buttons though, so it's not a huge deal, but it's nice when I can't find the remote 5. By the way, Kam and Kog remotes are compatible with each other, although the Kam seems to have better range 6. Orange display light vs Kogan's blinding blue Other than the above, it is identically powerful, energy efficient and low noise as the DC powered competitor. Very good throw and volume vs noise and RPM ratios. This fan easily produces a gust at moderate speed and low noise that would put normal AC fans to shame. Yes, they cost 10 times more than the budget Kmart noise makers, but for price to value, this is one of the best availableRead full review

This fan is quite expensive but it works really well. It has 26 speed settings and on the higher settings it really moves the air. On the lowest setting it is almost silent whilst still providing a gentle cooling breeze. Having a remote control is fantastic and because it is a DC fan you don't get any of those annoying buzzing sounds due to the ripple control signals use to switch off-peak loads etc. Great if you want to use it in the bedroom. Some may think that having 26 settings is unnecessary and I admit I tend to only use the 5 lowest settings, but it depends on the size of the room and how far away from the fan you are. With so many settings you can always find a range of settings to suit your needs. The fan is solid and well built. My only suggestions for improvement would be: 1) The speed jump (and therefore noise) between speed setting 1 and 2 is too big. 2) The range and directional sensitivity of the remote control could be better. Overall it is fan-tastic. (sorry about that)Read full review

This is the best pedestal fan I have ever purchased, not only saves 50% on electricity, the fan is so well designed and constructed I expect it to last well into next decade. I would recommend the extra cost ($180) as such quality, stability and choice of programs and fan speed are hard to find. The the remote has an ergonomic feel.
