NotesRemastered 14 song UK version of their classic 1966 album. The USA version had only 11 songs & different cover artwork. Tracks were recorded during two three day marathon sessions at RCA in Hollywood in December 1965 and March 1966. Includes "Mother's Little Helper" - the a-side of the twelfth US single, and it's b-side "Lady Jane", "Under my Thumb" and "Out of Time". Jack Nietzsche and Ian Stewart share the keyboard duties and Brian Jones plays a whole variety of instruments including an Appalachian dulcimer on "Lady Jane".

    The first great Rolling Stones LP

    Aftermath, in either the U.S. or U.K. version, is really where the Rolling Stones found their groove. Earlier records were full of great early Blues covers, with some radio-made pop songs mixed in. All great in their own right. But on Aftermath, the Stones started pushing the limits, with the soul of the group beginning to emerge. This is the first great Stones record, and, really, an early punk-rock record. Viewed in the pantheon of all of the group's 60's releases, this really stands out. Harder, edgier guitar work, and with really no contemporary comparison. If this doesn't turn you into a fan, then you're not really paying attention.
