I bought one of these distributors about uummm....2yrs ago because mine was frying modules every couple-a' months and had a dead spot just off idle..... As soon as I got this referbed dist. in, I could tell an immediate difference for the better. Now my truck (84' Chevy C10) runs very smoothly, and I have lost track of the two spare modules that kept behind the seat. I just bought a 83' GMC last month with a blown motor; one of the first things I ordered for the rebuild was another one of these referbed distributors. I tell anyone doing a stock type rebuild about these. So far it has been very dependable....~Dutton-J

Well first, of the three wires coming out are slightly burned, and I'm guessing a fire because of the fact the housing is bubbling and black in the same area as wires both show the same signs. The connector was broken bad enough to not stay connected. Can all this be fixed? Yeah. Did I get a good deal after the repairs I need to do to make in functional? Probably not.

I tried rebuilding original distributor, had brand new jumping tach when engine got hot, and a few other grounding issues with filters and the like. Replaced with this MSD unit, everything started working correctly, car never ran as good as it does now after timing. I fit a Moroso recurve kit with light springs to be all open at 3k. No advance stop used either, I want 20 degrees advance, timed at 18 BTDC initial, 38 degrees all in, 2500 stahl. Launches like a rocket and chirps second almost every time with stock 3:55 gears, what a difference in performance, I highly recommend for an old muscle car that uses an HEI. I LOVE MSD products, never had a bad experience yet, I also changed my 75 L-48 Vette over as well to the MSD and it runs smoother than ever. Delivered under 100 bucks, you're crazy if you don't give it a try.Read full review

Works great in my 454 motorhome... I changed to medium springs, so advancing is full in at 2800 rpm and put the vacuum advance stop at 10 degree. Much better advancing curve than the original distributor!

Put this on my 383 stroker to replace a failed Taylor distributor. Stabbed in and fired right up and gives a very good strong spark and the ignition curve it comes with is good for general applications. There's of course room and options to adjust it to what your engine needs.
