The Snap-On FR936 is a 36 tooth gear with a 2 tooth per side engagement pawl. The "F" in the model number refers to the drive size (3/8"). The "R" in refers to the quick release feature. The "9" refers to the ratchet series number, and the 36 stands for the tooth count. It has a tight operation, due to the exceptionally long spring under the pawl, exerting a great deal of force onto the pawl, which does make directional selecting a bit difficult, and tight crisp action. But this can be corrected by simply shortening the spring. I am not going to modify this though, beings it's in nearly new unused condition, and this the way S-O designed it to be. Overall these are very nice ratchets. They were the finest tooth back at the time in the early 2000's, until later when Snap-On introduced the "dual 80" FR80 model. The FR936 was 16 plus teeth finer than it's predecessor the F723 which originally used a 20 tooth. Eventually later converted to 30 tooth using the 30 tooth repair kit RKRAF723. The FR936 repair kit RKRFR936, is still available to rebuild the ratchet if ever needed. The body of the FR936 is well finished with nickel chrome plating, to protect the tool for many years of wear and use. Legendary Snap-On quality made in the USA! ๐บ๐ธ ๐
