Simple, conventional alarm clock
This is simple to use, has fairly large "always-on" lighted display, battery backup. That's what I needed for clock that sits several feet away from bed as a backup. I don't need other elaborate features that are already on my iPhone. The only other feature I would have paid for is "atomic clock" automatic setting, but it's not available on otherwise simple alarm clocks. Hot to the touch.
I plugged it in during the afternoon and set the time. When I went to bed, I was going to set the alarm. When I picked up the clock it was very hot to the touch. Then I noticed a smell coming from it. It smelled like burning plastic. It worried me so I unplugged it. I did not want to wake up the clock being on fire. I let it cool then threw it in the trash.
