Great for all conditions riding-that includes road!
Yes, it looks funny! but when you ride in the drops one has vastly improved control in contrast to a typical road drop bar. If you are lucky enough to own a bike with a sensibly tall headtube, you don't need to ride on the hoods anyway-just ascend on the tops, cruise and descend on the drops. Its a Nitto, so you can enjoy it for decades.
If I'm going to ride drop bars, I def prefer them flared...just more of a natural position for me on the hoods and provides sure handling/control while in the drops. These Nitto bars are well made, lightweight, and a perfect for my bikepacking rig
