Nice light - Possible Durability Issue
Nice smaller lightweight flex light. Replaced a Kobalt one from the big blue building supply store. This light is more compact than my previous one which works out well for me since I use it primarily for tinkering on / rehabbing motorcycles. Fits into those tight spots under carbs, etc a lot better than the Kobalt, small enough to also fit in underseat tool kit spaces. My only concern is the junction between the light bulb fixture and the flex neck looks to be similarly as weak as the Kobalt. The light fixture separated from the flex neck on the Kobalt soon after I bought it which caused the light bulb to frequently go dark at the most annoying time. Since the bulb was permantly wired to the flashlight, I could get the bulb to come back on but it required a lot of wiggling / fiddling to get it to come on and stay on while being used. The joint where the bulb housing meets the flex neck on this Steelman light looks to be similarly flimsy. Reason I gave a 4 star review and a "No" answer to the "Ist it durable" question.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Feels durable, doesn't equal durable.
Brand new, and upon the second use, the light went out and that was it. after numerous battery changes... instant junk. Physically, the unit feels durable, however the electrical is the poorly engineered aspect; the bulb is hard-wired in and non-replaceable. (it's also too fat for cylinder/ valve port inspection) Tossed it in the circular file. I had the original Steelman that had a replaceable bulb; that unit lasted me 23 years! Forget the LED penlight! A replacement for my 10 year old incandescent inspection light.
I have been using a 10 year old incandescent inspection light. It has served me well. But, LED lights have supplanted bulbs for years. So it stands to reason that an LED would replace the bulb in this application. It is brighter, less subject to burning out either by hours or mechanical insult.
