A great tool for an amateur photographer. Draws very picturesque, emotional pictures, quite sharp with the right settings, even in automatic mode. The camera is quite portable, and a powerful zoom lens gives a feeling of freedom from a variety of restrictions. Perhaps, from several cameras of different levels that I have, this one is my favorite.

Very impressed with this camera. The zoom is extraordinary (especially at this price point) and the fact that it takes RAW and JPG simultaneously is excellent. The high-speed burst mode is exceptional with 10 full res pictures taken in a second or so. Its macro capability is the best I have seen in any camera. So far the 800 pictures I have taken are looking very good. The only negative is the lowish dpi in the electronic viewfinder which makes it only useful for composition and not really for focus checking. Light enough to carry anywhere too and masses of features too.
The picture quality is not as good as my DSLR but SX50 HS is a very handy camera. I would need to carry 4 or 5 expensive lenses for the DSLR to replicate the versatility of the SX50. To go from Macro to 50 times zoom on the one unit is incredible. It is very handy when bulk and weight are a hindrance - eg. bushwalking. An improvement I would like to see on the camera are manual focus ring.
It's a good camera for the price you paid. It is difficult to focus at night. You can take pictures quickly to very large distances. You do not have to change lenses, so that you bring a camera lightweight very powerful. You'll feel happy with your camera if you are not very professional looking photographs.
I have had this camera for over a month and it has taken great ultra sharp photos and very clear HD Video. The focus is not fast but the 50X Zoom is magnificent.
