  • Finally a used TM722G that works.

This is the 3rd used Arris TM722G Telephony Cable Modems that I have tried (2 from eBay & 1 from Amazon Mkt). The telephone function didn't work with the 1st one. Comcast informed me that the 2nd one belonged to Comcast & wouldn't connect me. The battery in the 3rd one was bad so I substituted the battery from the 1st one & it seems to work perfectly. Comcast offers rates that the TM722G will not handle but I don't that high a rate. I have a cable modem that works well & it has a battery backup which the one I rented from Comcast didn't.

  • Worked took a little effort with the comcast - phone and internet works!

I called comcast ahead of time to verify this model is compatible and they confirmed it was - I was worried it was going to be damage or old but this came in excellent condition, the ethernet cable they provided is a little short so I used the one I already had that comcast provided. The set up to a bit of work with comcast : I provided the TMAC number that came on the side of the unit, it was easy to find. I submitted these numbers and got it registered. I had to reboot my computer to get the phone on and then after I opened up my browser I got the comcast walk through setup process ( note that I already had the phone line automatically active by then ) . Final step was filling in my account info and after that instantly I had internet -- it worth the effort I'm now saving a little bit each month.

  • replaced Comcast rental unit

This is the exact same model that I was renting from Comcast for $10 a month. It should pay for itself in a few months. The only issue I had was that it would not activate and when I contacted Comcast I was told that it was still registered on the network. I had to physically take it to a Comcast office to have it disconnected and then it activated. It's all good now.

  • Easy install

The unit was obviously used (stickers not cleaned off, etc) but otherwise was exactly as advertised. Took an hour on the phone with Comcast reading all the numbers to them (s/n, EMAC, CMAC, etc) due to their antiquated computer system. Units works well now and I don't have to pay rent on the Comcast unit.

  • Works as advertised.

Used this to replace the identical model that Comcast charges me $10 a month to rent. Simply unplugged the old unit and plugged in the new unit in the same manner. Then I opened Chrome on my computer and it opened up to the Comcast new hardware setup page. After following the instructions, the new modem worked. I was shocked how easy it was. So thankful I didn't have to call Comcast for help!

  • Don't rent from Comcast!

Comcast wants you to rent a wireless gateway for $10 per month, not only because it's lucrative for Comcast, but allows Comcast to use that device to piggyback service for other cable Internet customers on your cable Internet connection, putting your privacy, security, and performance at risk. And the most common Comcast wireless gateways are mediocre devices with poor reliability and performance. What you should do instead is buy your own cable modem and your own wireless router, thereby saving money and improving performance, reliability, and security. If you want Comcast telephone service get the TM722 or TM822. Otherwise get the SB6121 or SB6141. To avoid problems with Comcast activation, be sure (a) the modem was purchased new, never rented from Comcast, and (b) has been removed [deactivated] from any Comcast account.

  • Replace Comcast modem

Replace Comcast modem for internet and phone. Save $10 month and works all the time. It was easy to set up and once that is done...autopilot and I can use the router of MY choosing!

  • Break free of Comcast's router rental!

If you have Comcast Triple Play (cable+phone+internet), Comcast will not let you replace their rented router with one lacking a phone jack, even if you use a VoIP service. This means that you can't buy the cheaper routers (~$40-50) and have to buy the expensive ones ($180) with the phone jack. This is a nasty way of keeping customers renting their routers. Fortunately, eBay exists to sell used routers with a phone jack at around $50, allowing us to escape Comcast's stupid rental. The only caveat is that these used routers may be blacklisted from Comcast's system for IP abuse, etc. So before you actually replace the rental with your used router, call Comcast and verify the MAC address is not blocked. But in all honesty, you shouldn't have a problem, and this router will pay for itself in about five months.
