I have been cutting a lot of threads on the lathe. To make sure that the threads are square, run the tailstock ram up tight against the die. Keep the ram tight against the die until the threads are cut full length. The threads will be straight. Use plenty cutting oil. Be careful backing the die out. Work the die back and forth to clear any shavings that mite gouge out the threads. Turn the bar stock 0.010-0.015" under size. This eliminates sharp crests and allows the thread to be cut much easier..
