    Excellent product

    I installed the line tap with the shim for 1/2" tubing. Attached my ac recharge hose and opened the valve. This item worked perfectly and no leaks. My old window air conditioner now has new life and plenty of cold air. Very happy that I made the purchase.

    Allows you to add refrigerant to an appliance

    Most appliances don't have ports to add refrigerant. So, if there is a leak, you are pretty much going to need one of these. I installed it on a small deep freeze. It was easy to install and doesn't leak. The connection is the standard type likie used on old r-12 or a home ac unit. You can use it as is or use an adapter if you are needing 134a and just have a car style gauge set or one of the diy cans.

    Right Price, Great of any Do It Yourself'er (DIY)

    Most people never heard about this means to inexpensively add a Refill Valve to Refill with Freon a Refrigerator, Air Conditioner, Freezers, etc. as most Manufacturers did not provide an Inexpensive Service Port. The Manufacturers KNOW that any Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Freezers, etc. will over time Leak Freon; and that by Design without enough Freon, the Refrigerators, Air Conditioners, Freezers, etc. they make Must Fail due to not enough Freon. Without the ability to add a Service Port like this SUPCO BPV31 Bullet Piercing Valve, 1/4", 5/16", 3/8" Tubing from Patriot Supply even Professional Refrigerator, Air Conditioning, Freezer Repair Service People would have problems and would have to resort to welding, soldering, on Service Ports after completely capturing the Freon of a System (increased risk of Freon escaping into air). Make sure you watch the youtube videos; measure the diameter of the pipe (Low Side Pressure ONLY) you are going to install this excellent product to. Always identify the Low Pressure and High Pressure Sides, NEVER mess with the High Pressure side. Wear eye protection and gloves.

    Fixed portable AC unit.

    I always thought you would have to braze on a new fill value to a window air conditioner or refrigerator to fill the refrigerant. That is not something the normal homeowner can do easily. I then found out about this piercing valve. This worked great to fill a portable AC unit that I have. Just make sure you purchase the correct valve for your application. This valve can be used on the low side of a R410A system, not on the high side.

    Fix Chinese dehumidifier, watch sleeve size.

    This is second time I repaired old dehumidifier from China. Tubing size is smaller than 5/16", but bigger than 1/4". It will leak if you use 5/16" sleeve (too loose). So use bigger sleeve and tighten down with small gap between halves and it will stay sealed. Used on A401 system with no problem this time. Had to evacuate and refill on my first dehumidifier using wrong size filler sleeve.

    You can save a good old refrigerator for a few bucks.

    There is a youtube video on how to do this. Since my old reefer was built in 1994, the year they stopped using freon12, it was a 50/50 chance if it was the old freon or the new R134. But the risk was worth the price of this and a can of R134. FYI you shold get the adapter cap that fits on this and your R134 refill hose.
