  • It's more of a very sad fairytale with an attempt to give a feeling of human tragedy then a horror film.

Offshoots of a drug cartel created this suffering. This is about the refugees of destroyed families South of the Border. It's specifically about small children of those families trying to find survival in an impoverished area after their homes and families are ruined. There are necessary aspects of human life and sustenance that are ignored in presenting this story. If you think about this while watching it will distract form the film. This story has some of the attributes of "The Monkey's Paw". There are 3 pieces of magic chalk that grant wishes with an unexpected price added on. To this there are mostly good F/X added. But the F/X are sparsely used. The filming is very good. The acting of the children is very good. Their characters are likeable. The 'sets' appear to be real buildings that were once opulent and are now decaying. Many will dump this into the horror genre but it's more of a very sad fairytale with an attempt to give a feeling of human tragedy. For people that want the 'Hollywood feel' you should probably look elsewhere. Expect something almost Avant Garde in the tale. This Avant Garde is not bizarre of weird it's just unusual. It's more of a very sad fairytale with an attempt to give a feeling of human tragedy then a horror film.
