I have worked on cooled and uncooled thermal imagers (FLIRs) as a software engineer and am very familiar with their functionality. This is a great little camera especially for the price. Having a 206x156 detector and priced a little over $200 makes it a fantastic value. Only issues I have that could be fixed in software: 1) There is a brief freezing of the image every 5-seconds or so. This, I believe is due to the calibration procedure that the camera does every so often to determine the sensitivity of each detector pixel and create a normalization table for the gain and level for each detector pixel. I think 5 seconds is WAY too often. It could probably be changed to once every minute or so. This I think changing this to one or two minutes would enhance the user experience. 2) Another thing I noticed it the overall gain and level of the image. When looking at a low-contrast scene I thought the image to be too bland and too bright (this is in white-hot mode). Cranking the gain up a bit on these low-contrast scenes and making them overall a bit darker (in white-hot) I think would make for a more pleasing image. This might be something the software engineers at Seek Thermal should look to optimize. I actually own this 38degree FOV camera and the 20degree FOV camera. Total investment a little over $500. Cant beat that with a stick! Mark Hammons Plano, TX, USARead full review

The thermal imaging camera comes in a nice case and snaps into place easily. The image that you see is very blurred even when you try to focus it. It is hardly recognizable what you are seeing through the camera. I was not impressed at all. I wish I was able to try one out or see a sample working before buying it. I'm wondering if it is really showing the temperature differences or just changing the colors that the camera is showing to make you think it is real.

Very simple to use, download the Seek Thermal app from the App Store onto your iPhone or iPad, plug it in, and allow the app to have access to the device, your photos, and your location. Sure, the sensor resolution is far lower than your screen, but you can easily identify hot/cold spots with sufficient detail. Things to note: You need to manually focus it. Here again, laser-sharp focus isn't critical, but you can adjust it. The field of view isn't very wide, so you may need to take multiple photos or a video if the area you're scanning is large (like an entire room from the inside, or an entire house from the outside. You can choose between 16x9 or 4x3 for image format. 16x9 is the default, but it zooms in on a 4x3 format, and you lose the top/bottom. I opted for 4x3, to see the whole image -- personal preference.Read full review

I bought this to aid in hunting when retrieving deer that were shot and now must be found. While I have not had the opportunity to do this yet I have had people conceal themselves and while invisible to the eye they were obvious to the Seek. I heated ketchup to 100F to simulate a blood trail on a gravel road and that was able to be seen also for about 10-15 minutes on a summer night. Overall very pleased. You should have reasonable expectations, this is not a 5-10K military device. Don't expect detail images like a ScyFy movie. It finds people and my cat. I have no doubt it will find deer and save me hours of upset and exhaustion doing so. Included hard case is excellent and the device adds no more weight to my pack than a pack of gum.

Great item! Great Price! I'm a member of a paranormal group and we do ghost hunts about every other weekend. This device does just as good of quality work as some of the Thermals that cost thousands. Highly recommended purchase! That app is quick and easy to install and the camera is very simple to operate. A great addition to the team's equipment. ~Thank you~

First of all this is not an ultra precision thermograph. But for general use, it is definitely adequate. The app software is easy to use. Perhaps later it would be updated to include ability to do post-analysis i.e. to move the cursor on archived thermograph to determine spot temperatures. In the meantime, figuring out to "see" what can not be seen by the eye is a journey of discovery by itself. Got ideas? Selected this over FLIR One due its simplicity -- no built-in battery to maintain and replace (if it is ever replaceable.) Wider measurement temperature range.

Performance better than expected. Good value but there are a few design problems: the shell of the unit is held together by glue that fails when trying to gently focus the camera and the lightning plug is not as robust as the android micro usb style causing intermittent communication with iphone. I own both types and it works better on iPhones than android devices but it is an amazing device hands down. My units have the 206x160 Thermal array - I consider this to be the minimum size people would want. There are larger arrays like 320x 240 and FLIR has one that’s 640x480! Seek is coming out with a usb-c model soon and I am skeptical as that connector in the past is well known for its problems. Thermal array size dictates the price of the unit. I use mine for inspecting for water leaks and electronic shorts in circuits and any overloaded fuses or wiring and heat/ac leaks around doors and windows. The resolution is high enough not to need the visible light photo with infrared overlay at least for me anyway. A few micro drops of gorilla glue on the external case seams now keeps the device from coming apart unexpectedly and the lightning connection I just have to live with. Check manufacturer’s website for compatible android devices if you decide android over iPhone as not all android devices are compatible. Amazon Fire tablets are not compatible and running a Windows 10 tablet with an Intel processor maybe with android emulator and suitable connection adapter. However, using the iPhone model with an iPhone 6 or higher is amazing if you can live with the drain on your phone battery as these units are powered through the connector. All in all - amazing! I would recommend it.Read full review

Great add on for the iPhone. Small, good resolution, and no battery, perfect for the casual user. Waterproof case is pretty snappy, though I would like a lens cap since it is convenient enough and sturdy enough to leave it on the phone. It does pull power from the phone, but I haven't seen a noticeable impact to battery life. I am glad I went for this instead of the FLIR offering, much more portable and one less battery to maintain. Great for visualizing heat escape through walls or windows, dampness or leaks...you can even see and measure the different temperatures across a plate of food coming out of the microwave! (I was surprised how much you have to stir mashed potatoes to get them to be the *same temperature* throughout) The exposure adjustment can visualize detail down to some fraction of a degree, and it lines up well with my non-contact thermometer and probe thermometer. All in all, incredibly impressive piece of technology.Read full review

It doesn’t stay connected to the phone well. It’s hard to know how to hold your phone while trying to use it. Very poor image. The expensive units have poor images, this one just takes it to a lower level. Don’t waste your money hoping it will be good Quality
