Molded pot metal, it's not as solid as I would have liked, but at this price point it's pretty good. Cutting wire was fairly loose, but it has screws that let you adjust that (though it can be a little fiddly since you need three hands to do it, would suggest using a vice).

the metal and wire cheese slicer is a change from the usual plastic ones that break after a month or 2. It is early days yet but so far so good. The real test will be to see how long it lasts, hopefully long enough to justify not buying more $2 plastic ones!

the frame is OK but the cutting wire keep on getting loose, a better system of anchoring the wire would improve this cutter to a usable tool. As it is now is useless.

The slicer is easy to take apart but it's hard to change the thickness of the slice. I sliced through one bit of cheese and the wire became so loose that the cheese slices were thicker at one end than the other. I needed to tighten it up but for $9.95 I just threw it out.
