Perfect for interfacing with Raspberry Pi's, Beaglebones, cheap TV boxes (Amlogic, Allwinner, Rockchip, etc) and especially useful for the serial recovery of routers. A handy cable to own. Works perfectly under Linux thanks to the FTDI_SIO driver. Plus it's quite a bit cheaper than buying an FTDI branded cable (i.e: TTL-232R-3V3) from the well known electrical component stores. This is a well-made product, where the attention to detail sets it apart from its competitors. The transparent USB plug allows you to visually monitor what it is going on, the cable length is generous. Someone has gone to the trouble of putting some sleeving over the TTL end for a bit of strain relief. If you needed to, you could re-wire the TTL connectors also. Brilliant!

This worked straight away on Windows 10 64 bit, without the need to install special drivers, or disable driver verification etc. This was a bit more expensive than some of the other serial leads or boads I have bought in the past which either didn't work or you have to jump through various hoops because they were using outdated or fake FTDI serial chips. So I'm happy to pay a bit extra for one that just works. Flashing LEDs in the USB connector is quite useful as well to monitor serial traffic, so you know you are talking to the right port.

This is not really a simple 'plug & play' device. Some basic knowledge of electronics is probably needed to use it. Given that, if you need to interface a computer to a device with 5v digital serial signalling, it may be a suitable choice. Make sure the device interface needed is 5v not 3v. If it is 3v, buy the alternative cable. Personally I only use FTDI chipset devices. I have only tested these cables with Win10 and for me they auto configure without any issues. Recently I needed a cable for another project, so I made sure that I bought the same again.

I struggled to connect to a PIC micro controller using my usual ttl cable. Had a problem that I could read data but any data written were not recognised by it. After upgrading to this 5v ttl all started to work as should. This looks like a genuine, high quality cable.

This cable arrived promptly and well packaged. It certainly looks of good quality compared to some of the offering available and justified the price difference. Once connected up the cable worked fine.
