    Not your everyday grinder

Overall, this is another well made Hario coffee grinder. It is well designed, with simplicity and reliability in mind. Its compact and easy to store. If you're looking for a grinder as an occasional backup, this is perfect. Otherwise, if you drink several cups of coffee a day, everyday, you will be very quickly frustrated. For finer grinds, you will spend several minutes putting some actual effort into this for only one cup of coffee worth. Also, the setting that you put into it, is only consistent for the couple of cups that your grinding for at a time. You will most likely need to readjust, as the little screw will come loose pretty quickly. Keeping this stable on the countertop is also slightly tricky just because the smooth design is hard to grip at times, and if you just try to grind while holding it in the air, the screw will come loose practically mid grind, and the consistency will be very poor. In other words, its a back up grinder, or a travel grinder. I would not recommend for daily use.

    instructions?

Seems to work ok, but with a few notes. Instructions don't say how to actually put the beans in the grinder. The clear top that pops off appears to be permanently attached until pulled with decent force. Not mentioned in the instructions. The grinding control knob is easy to use, but there is no indication just how fine the end grind will be. People who are quite used to a French Press grind will have an idea after a few turns, but others will just have to guess

  • Works Better Than Expected

This grinder is easy to adjust and really shines on the fine settings. I use it for a fine drip grind. By the time my water heats up for my aeropress I have one cup-worth ground. Espresso grind takes a long time to grind out(5 to 7 minutes of fast paced grinding). It isn't super consistent with large drip grind; but it is still fast and effective. Very pleased. It is much faster to clean and maintain than a loud electric grinder.

  • Lightweight, ergonomic, and quiet!

Waking up at 5am is challenging. And going to work without coffee is even more difficult. And who wants to interrupt your quiet morning with a loud grinder? .... We Don't! We FINALLY made the switch over from purchasing coffee grounds to coffee beans! And this coffee grinder is the perfect size to grind coffee beans for the french press. (We have the Mr. Coffee 1.2 qt coffee press which brews 38 oz.) The grinder is quiet, ergonomic for both small and large hands, and it has a sleek design. The handle comes off for easy cleaning and storage. (The handle fits on like a hex key.) The body screws off easily into two pieces. The upper half has a clear lid and reservoir for the beans. Underneath is the grinding teeth. The clear lower half is the reservoir for holding the ground coffee beans. We have used it for a week. I have washed it with soap and water. My sponge and hands were not cut by the teeth. Directions for using the QUIET AND AWESOME BEAN GRINDER! Remove handle and remove the clear lid. We fill the top reservoir with beans! Mmmmm.... Install clear top and handle. Grind away by turning the handle clockwise. DO NOT turn it counterclockwise. Ruins the grinding teeth. Remove the handle. (Easier to handle the device.) Carefully unscrew the clear bottom reservoir and pour into the Mr. Coffee French Press. (Our French press directions... Boil water. Let sit until the bubbles have calmed. Otherwise, it will burn the coffee. Fill the container 1/2 full with hot water. Let fluids sit for a minute or two. The grains will float to the top. (Blooming coffee!) Fill the container full and let sit again for another minute. Install the Presser for the French Press. Pour and enjoy the grounds you brewed! <3 Love, Coffee Drinkers

  • Not so good as expected

My mill came broken and used and firstly I send bad feedback, but since seller accepted full refund I will change my opinion. The mill itself looks much smaller than on pics, it even maybe works good except of mine. And it has plastic details that can be broken fast. So it's up to you to buy or not.

  • A quality solution for one or two cups of coffee

The mill does a quality grind for one or two cups of coffee at a time. Depending on the fineness of the grind, it takes one or two minutes per cup - good exercise for you. After a year of daily use, it has worn a little but suffered no loss of function. Heat the water in a microwave while you grind, then filter through an Aeropress!

  • Useless product

I bought this grinder TWICE. The first grinder was broken after being used several times. Dont't want to throw it away (it was bought as a wedding anniversary gift for my spouse), I bought the second grinder and use its parts as a replacement. It was immediately broken again. The problem was its plastic core. Instead of using metal, Hario uses some nylon/plastic. Rubbed against the metal shaft, the plastic was immediately worn. Can't find replacement for that particular part, either.

  • Great Product

Great quality product. Grinds very easily compared to other grinders I have used previously. Has a nice measurement feature to get the right amount of coffee and the top part hold a lot of coffee beans

  • Great little device

Just as described. Works great and very easy to use. Great way to learn coffee bean grinding without spending too much.

  • Green and portable with super grind consistency

I researched thoroughly before buying this specific grinder for French press coffee making. And it's kind of ideal. One of the most important things in French press coffee brewing is consistent particle size and this grinder delivers. It has a ceramic grinding burr that will probably last for decades. Easy to use and nice to start the day with some light movement while grinding my morning coffee. Takes about three minutes to grind a batch. The grind adjustment knob is easy to use and a trial-and-error affair so it's satisfying for me to fine-tune the grind. I had it figured out after two brews. I take it on boats, camping, and motels when traveling. French press coffee rocks and is fun to make. One load makes enough for my medium-sized press in for minutes of brew time.
