i5-6600 upgrade
Had an older Dell PC that I wanted to upgrade the cpu from an i3-6100 (2 core/4 thread) to an i5-6600 (4 core/4 thread). I really wanted an i7-6700, but couldn't justify paying an extra $100 over the cheaper i5. Just had to remove the fan and old cpu, drop the new cpu in, put some thermal paste on it, and put the fan back on (first removing the old paste). The Dell saw the new CPU in the BIOS, but didn't want to start Windows via the UEFI. Eventually got it working. Didn't have to reinstall Windows, but I went ahead and did it anyways. It runs much faster than the old i3. I think I'll manage to squeeze a few more years out of this computer with the upgraded cpu!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
