Proprietary makes it much, much more expensive
I am not fond of Garmin's funky way of doing things, Updating maps in the past has been a nightmare that even tech support fumbles with. Now many years later it's (finally) better. As for this cable it's working fine. Somehow these cables disappear from what I assume is due to friends and family "borrowing" them. You can't use cables from the other non Garmin products and certainly not a dollar store cable. Buying some Garmin products means a different cable. Progress or just a money grab? These are not cheap compared to every other USB out there but then that's why it's Garmin. I rarely use any of the three Garmins I have as they seem to go haywire without fail no matter what state I am in. They just don't come through when I need them to. I find I am using my phone with no additional apps other that what came with it and it's proving to be the better option - far more reliable although missing the range of features. I don't use them so it's no great loss. The cable works fine but It's hardly worth the price. It's a forced choice which is standard operating procedure for Garmin. Since it's well made and you and I have no known choice in buying something else, I am forced to recommend it. This is an original Garmin Cable but it is not p/n 010-11478-01 MicroUSB Cable as listed. Instead, it is p/n 010-10723-15 Mini USB Cable which does not fit my Garmin units so I had to return it. Garmin 2460LMT cable
