The blade looks like tin as opposed to steel. The blade also, sounds like tin as it sweeps through the grass. Yes, sweeps, not cuts. Ok, I've never used a scythe before but, I sourced some 'how to use' instructions via UTube, watched videos, followed precisely and even given that practice is required, it just doesn't cut. It mangles, you can beat the grass down with it, gently 'though or the blade will snap, but that's all. Couldn't recommend it to anyone, not even a very experienced scyther, not that such would have need of the poor person's choice. Very disappointing as the only other tools I can use to comply with the getting fire ready, grass cutting requirements here are blunt shears and a spade! Five acres to do too! Only positive, it was delivered well ahead of the dated delivery date but now wish I hadn't bothered.Read full review

I bought this thinking it was a good buy... however when i tried to out it together one handle split. I had to give it to my dad to fix up, he ended having to put another handle on it, sharpening the blade... even then he said it was poorly made n the blade was made out of cheap metal. Save your money dont buy it!

If I had read the reviews of this product I never would have purchased it. Everything negative mentioned in previous reviews proved to be true. The product cannot be assembled without altering parts, the blade does not cut. Took it out of the box, found couldn't put together, tried to cut grass with the blade alone, could not, put in the bin. Disappointing 20 minutes.

Surprisingly light weight and works well, but the wooden handle split and broke off as soon as we started using the scythe to cut our grass. We are going to try to glue it back together and stick it back on but slightly disappointing as it hadn’t even been used! Otherwise we were impressed by the speed of postage and packaging.

Am finding how to use item to best effect and maintain a burr on the blade. Needs a better bolt to attach the blade to the main shaft.
