    SYLVANIA SILVERSTAR 3157 BULB

    Replacement 3157 dual filament bub with slightly hazy blue color. One filament is rated 26.9 watts (Usually brake or back-up illumination) while the other is 8.3 watts Usually running or marker illumination). When paired with a 3157 socket the function is automatically matched to the bulb regardless of how the bulb is inserted - unlike the old round base 1157 bulbs that had tabs at slightly different heights so the bulb could only be turned if it were inserted in the right spot. Like all automotive bulbs, they need to wiped clean with isopropyl alcohol of any fingerprints and dried before powering them on. Failure to clean the bulbs will result in a much shorter bulb life. The chemicals normally found in fingerprints and the heat generated by the bulb will etch microscopic holes in the bulb's thin glass envelope which will let air in. The air will cause the metal filament to literally burn up rather than slowly evaporate.
