these things are really cool, but you have to understand, IT NEEDS A MICROPHONE *AND* A GUITAR/KEYBOARD PLUGGED IN AT THE SAME TIME, OR IT WON'T DO ANYTHING! i picked one up "broken"... it works great. it's not a digital harmonizer like some things, it's really a vocoder for all intents and purposes. you plug a guitar/keyboard thru it, and it takes the pitches of the chords you play and that is how it defines the pitches it will harmonize your vocal to when you use it. it has to have a chordal input, or it simply won't really do anything. but once you plug a guitar in, it can get some really decent effects on the vocal for backgrounds. it's not as sophisticated as some other units on the market, but for me, it has worked fine. apparently a lot of people don't read the manual, or know how to operate it. but if you hook it up right, it can sound surprisingly good in a live context! This equipment is excellent as it has enhanced the sound of my trumpet. Can you imagine one person playing three part harmony. But I play with 3 horns, so it has tripled. The sound effects are amazing and the whole band has been going crazy insane over it. This is an amazing invention!

it is awesome! the vocoder can be really molded with different mixtures of keyboard sounds and is super professional feeling. i wish it had a foot operated mode switch, but i may create one. sometimes the harmony is what would sound better for one section and vocoder for another depending on what the accompaniment is like. the harmonic choices are a little odd some times, but you just find the best option for each song.

Saw some really lame reviews for this product here. Yes, you need a mic and a mic cables for this. It's a great pedal and has enough features to make it worth the cost. The vocoder works great. The harmony and other options really add a lot. 5/5. Top quality. Opens up a new door to musical creativity. Do research on the pedal and you'll be happy with it.

Once you get your harmonies where you like them (which is super fun to play with) it rolls right with you. Adds a lot of dimension. You can punch in and out for one word accents or continued harmony. The accuracy in the harmony notes it chooses are right 99% of the time with the chord progression. Its impressive. Very much liked.

TC Helicon Harmony GXT is much better - I’m going stick with it. On big drawback is that the Electro Harmonic has no way to cut the harmonies but keep the reverb effect.

I had no luck setting the values to where it sounded good. Way over priced for what it is!
