I tried a lot of tubes, including the RCA VT-231. The Sylvania's had the edge, but the Tung Sol Round Plates clobber the other designs. My amp now has way more resolution! I am using the oval mica models. The larger, round top mica's are said to sometimes have high frequency issues, possibly due to the edges not coming into good contact with the glass. The oval mica's have the metal tabs that are spring loaded, preventing the problem. - Get these while they are still available..

This pair of the legendary oval plate/blackglass Tung-sol 6SN7's are singing sweetly in my headphone amp (Dennis Had's Inspire IHA-1). These tubes beat every other I have tried in this amp, including the RCA 5692, the Sylvania "Bad Boys", the Ken-rad VT-231 and several others. If you have a headphone amp or preamp which takes a pair of the 6SN7 - and you can afford them, they are worth it!

This is my favorite driver in my Woo WA22. Big soundstage with the sweetest mid-range I've heard in a tube.
