RCA 5U4G as replacement for vintage Mallard 5AR4 (b32) rectifier tube in the ModWright power supply model PS 9.0 used to drive pair of buffer RCA 7400 tubes in the ModWright CD player. Installing RCA 5U4G made improvement in sound quality in every aspect, specially details presentation in the mid and low bass range. Highly recommended tube for this type of application. Not all are created equal when it comes to the VT-244 rectifier. Look for the version with a Ken-rad style bottom D foil getter, hanging filament & in the coke bottle "ST" shape. This is one tube you will definately want to use in your audio system. Overall, RCA made some of the very best 5U4G (ST shape) rectifiers. Give this one a try. You are going to love it.

These 5U4G's are in great shape - quiet and are functioning perfectly in my setup. I love the sound of these old 5U4's and they beat any modern manufacture versions by a mile!
