Pros: This Wifi adapter is very easy to use and works great. It picks up a strong signal where other adapters don't even see the network. It works out of the box with my Raspberry Pi 3. I can finally do live scores all the way at the football field! (Normally, there's not a hint of WiFi there). Cons: None really, but you need a USB port that can supply 500mA. The device requires a lot of power to get the range it has.

Works ok, but the measure transmission is no where near 1W. I only see about 500mw with my meter. Don't know if the unit is counterfeit or not. They might just be trying to claim it's equivalent to 1W with the better antennas. However, at 1/2w the unit does work well and without issue.

I have this unit connected to my bi-quad antenna. The bi-quad is outside my office attached to an old satellite dish. The cable comes into my office and then into the Alfa Adapter. Then a USB from the Alfa Adapter to my computer. My office is a good 100 yards from our modem. I'm also using a bi-quad antenna, this Alfa Adapter, and an Alfa Extender to extend our wifi to our Vacation rental. The bi-quad captures the signal, the Adapter then sends the signal to the Extender, which gives wifi to the rental. The rental is maybe 100 feet away.

I love it. When new it was giving me intermittent connection problems. Some days had connection some days don't. I was thinking that the reception was too far but no. I noticed when the internet was down the green led light was down too. Then I changed the usb cable and wallah. Everything working fabulous. Recommended.

My previous wifi card is only 500mW and uses a PCI slot with an antenna extension. With this one, I am using a USB cable instead of an antenna extension and therefore I don't get all the antenna extension losses. So I get much better reception.

I installed the drivers on my desktop which requires to manually install them in order for them to work. Watch a YouTube video on how to, but works with Windows 10 after that. I ran Kali Linux as a virtual machine and had no problems doing packet injection or packet sniffing. Highly recommend for network analyst.

There are no Windows 10 or 8 drivers available for this unit. Digging on the internet suggests that the Windows 7 drivers sometimes work, but they don't for me and I've installed them on 3 PCs. So in summary, this is an obsolete product, which is not compatible with the most common current operating systems and shouldn't be offered for sale without that caveat.

After testing many wifi antennas indoors to pick up signals around 750 ft to 3000 ft I have found the best options... First I tried the Alfa 7dBi Panel = Failed with disconnects Second I tried the Gain Long Range Yagi 18dBi 16dBi 2.4GHz = Works but slow around 2500 Kbps and sometimes disconnects but not often Third I tried the Altelix 2.4GHz 15dB WiFi Grid Antenna High Gain Directional Parabolic = Best option with zero disconnects with 24 hour period and speeds reaching around 5500 - 6500 Kbps Would recommend if paired with Yagi 16/18 dBi or Altelix dBi Parabolic
