20 years ago it would have been handy.
I purchased book this because of all the blurb on how good it is. Pictures are great, but I found there is too much to read, and you are not much better off after the effort. If you already know a bit about this craft, you are better off learning more online. If you don't anything, then I suggest looking at specific areas you are trying to learn about, rather than using this book as the go to book. Probably 20 years ago it would have been handy.
